Mother and Daughter Spiritual Journey
Carolyn & Emily Loftis
Carolyn was born in India to missionary parents, Paul and Emily Cook. Both sets of grandparents were pioneer ministers.
She and her husband of 51 years, Charles, have three children and six grandsons. Carolyn attended Indiana and Purdue University for Tax Preparation and is an Enrolled Agent, qualified to practice before the IRS. She recently sold her business of 33 years, retaining the ministerial clients.
She attends Woodland Church of God, where she is active in teaching, worship, and many women’s ministries. She recently received her ministerial ordination with the Church of God. She has been a speaker at women’s conferences and events. She loves studying and being with family.
Her vision for the future is to be part of a Muslim Revival.
Emily is a freelance journalist in California, and therefore drives a taxi to help pay rent. She started writing at age 11 in a journal gifted from her grandmother, but has since picked up a master’s degree at IU School of Journalism. She’s written and fact-checked for publications including NPR, MotherJones, CaliforniaLawyer, Medium and Salon. Relevant to the book, she minored in Bible and Theology at Lee University.
Emily loves studying theology, collecting odd stories from taxi driving, experimenting in the kitchen, hiking with family, watching movie trailers with her husband and working on community projects.
